University of Lagos, Human Resources Development Centre in collaboration with the institute of Security, Nigeria invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following part-time security programmes:

1.) Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme
2.) Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme
3.) Specialist Course in Intelligence and Investigation Studies
4.) Specialist Course in Law Enforcement Preventive Security and Border Protection
5.) Specialist Course in Corporate and Industrial Security

1.) Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme

(Foundation and Pre-Professional intermediate Associate Level)
  • These are the first and second stages of the Institute Professional Programmes. They constitute solid foundation and starting point in the security and safety profession. The programmes cover basic practical and pre-vocational level including elements of theories of security studies package. They are modules land II of the institute professional training programmes.
2.) Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme
(Supervisory, Professional and Managerial Level)
  • The course is designed to provide an appreciation at a professional level of the technical and strategic stage of security and safety practice. Students undertake core modules on the theory, practice and development of security together. The third and fourth stages of the professional career level of the Institute programme which are modules III & IV. It covers combination of work place experience and professional scheme in security management. It covers practical, creative, experimental, exploratory and interdisciplinary professional studies in security and safety. It is the level where full membership is conferred on the holder (MISN).
3.) Specialist Course in Intelligence and Investigation Studies
  • This programme aims to introduce participants to advanced study in Intelligence and Security Investigation practice in order to equip them for a wide range of careers in the security and safety industry.
  • This is the final part of the five-tier professional qualification framework, It covers exploratory and project work including industrial visits and reports, exchange.of innovative ideas and projects are encouraged.

This programme aims to introduce participants to the advanced professional study in Law Enforcement Preventive Security and Border Protection which are not only sensitive, but also involve human attitudes and a variety of activities which include:

  • The progarmme is designed for Intelligence Officers in Intelligence Office in the Armed Forces, Police, Customs, Prisons, NDLEA, immigration, NSCDC, Head of Security Units, Security Managers, Private and Corporate Investigators, Intelligence Managers, Operators of Security Services, Training Managers Insurance Managers, Factory Managers and Personnel Managers, Auditors, Officers and Supervisor of Security Outfits, Legal Advisers, Prosecutors, Analysts and Examiners.
Entry Requirements

1.) Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme
(Institute of Security Modules I &II)
  • Holders of WAEC, SSCE/GCE (O/L) with pass in minimum of five papers, Grade II Teachers Certificate, Practicing and in-service Training course Certificates issued by Military, Paramilitary and Police Training Schools.
Mature candidates:
  • Five years working experience
  • 25 years and above
  • A minimum of 3 papers in WAEC/GCE
  • Holders of WASC, SSCE or GCE (OIL)
Duration:
  • Twelve (12) Months

  • N40,000.00

  • N10,000.00
2.) Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and Management Programme (Institute of Security Modules III & IV)
  • Holder of University Degree, FIND and relevant professional qualifications in appropriate discipline particularly security, social sciences, humanity, management, physical sciences Engineering and Technology.
  • Holders of OND, NCE or in Security, Crime Management, Social Science, Humanity, Management, Physical Sciences, Engineering and Technology plus five years of experience as Senior Security Officer/ Manager/Controller.
  • Diploma in Security Operations and Management.
  • Institute of Security, Nigeria Certificates of Completion of professional levels of Modules I &II
Duration:
  • Twelve (12) Months

  • N10,000.00
3.) Admission Requirements for Specialist Security Programmes (Institute of Security Modules V)
An applicant for admission to these Specialist Security programmes shall be holders of:
  • Institute of Security certificates of Completion of professional levels of Modules III & IV
  • Advanced Diploma in Security Operations and Management/Internationally recognized Professional Diploma Certificate in Security and Safety.
  • Professional Certificate in Certified Protection Professional (PP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Fraud Examiners.
  • Professional Certificates issued by Military and Paramilitary Academy in Nigeria.
  • Graduate of Universities holding a degree in humanity, behavioural sciences, science and technology with security and protection background

  • Six (6) Months

Payment Procedure
Tuition and Course Material Fees are payable to the Human Resources Development Centre, University of Lagos, using the HRDC Students Fees Bank Teller which is available at University of Lagos Branches of Wemna Bank, Eco Bank, Access Bank, First Bank.

Method of Application/Guidelines for Filling the Application Form
  • Visit the Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng Click on the "Application Form"
  • Click the pre application form link; provide the required information and submit to obtain a Payment Reference Number (Voucher) Print out the Payment Reference Number (voucher).
  • Make payment to the University of Lagos branch of: ACCESS BANK PLC, ECO BANK PLC, FIRST BANK PLC or WEMA BANK PLC. Applicants are expected to take the printed Payment Reference Number (voucher) to the bank for payment of N7,500 which is the cost of Application Form.
  • After payment, return to Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng Click the Application link, then Application Form link, login with Payment Reference Number as user name and provide surname in lowercase as password.
  • Click the Edit Application form link to fill the Application form and upload digital passport (jpeg format) which should not be more than 15kb in size and must be in white background. The acceptable dimension is width: 235 pixels or 35mm, height 314 pixels or 40mm (Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification).
  • Click "SUBMIT FORM" button after filling the form completely, else click "DECLINE" button. After submission, printed copies of the application forms (Original printout and a photocopy) should be submitted at the HRDC Secretariat with two (2) photocopies of the following documents: (1) Birth Certificates, (2) Reference Number printout, (3) N7,500 teller, and (4) Credentials.
Note: If payment is not made five (5) days after obtaining Payment Reference Number (voucher), the pre-application would be DECLINED. Applicants will then be expected to refill the pre-application form to obtain a new Payment Reference Number (voucher).

Submission of Application Forms and Collection of Admission Letters
  • Two (2) copies of complete application forms are to he submitted at the Human Resources Development Centre.
  • The admission list will be available on Human Resources Development Centre Portal: hrdc.unilag.edu.ng Admission letters for shortlisted candidates are to be printed online.
