The Chapel of Grace, University of Maiduguri is an Interdenominational Church committed to the preparation of souls for the kingdom of God. The Chapel of Grace congregation comprises of Staff, Students and other members of the society who love to worship in an ecumenical environment.

Job Title: Chaplain

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Duties

  • The Chaplain shall be the spiritual Head of the Chapel of Grace.

The Chaplain shall:

  • In conjunction with the Chaplaincy Committee, plan all the Chapel programmes and activities including the selection of speakers and topics
  • Ensure and encourage necessary preparations for ministration of ordinances as required by the constituent protestant denominations such as naming and dedication, adult baptism, weddings, Holy Communion and burials;
  • Carry out and discharge all the duties, functions and other priestly functions of his office of Ministerial Ordination;
  • Be in charge of personal counseling of the congregation and ensure easy access for members to be counseled,
  • Be a non-elected member of The Chapel Council;
  • Coordinate the activities of the spiritual Ministries and Sub-groups;
  • In consultation with The Chapel Council, appoint or assign to any person(s) any such responsibilities as may be led by the Holy Spirit, and
  • Do all such things incidental and ancillary to the powers and functions conferred on him anywhere in the Chapel constitution.

Qualifications and Experience
To be appointed as the Chaplain of The Chapel of Grace, a person shall:

  • Possess at least Diploma in Theology.
  • Have been duly Ordained, with at least five (5) years post-Ordination experience;
  • Possess at least a University Degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Show evidence of thorough and balanced doctrinal grounding:
  • Show capacity to accommodate and relate with all persons of varied ages, creeds and denominational backgrounds;
  • Show deep commitment to Christ, and concern for the needs and growth of the Church;
  • Be duly and properly married in a recognized Church; and the husband of one woman, who possesses at least an academic diploma and has the capacity to accommodate and relate well with the women folk.

Tenure

  • The Chaplain shall hold office for a term of four (4) years, which may be renewed upon satisfactory performance.

Remuneration
The remuneration attached to the post is attractive but negotiable.
