Job Title: Assistant / Associate / Full Professor, Economics

Summary

• The post-holder will be required to instruct courses, both introductory and advanced levels, in line with his or her area of expertise.
• The successful candidate must have a PhD in Economics at the time of applying with at least five (5) years of university-level teaching experience.
•  The candidate should be able to teach courses in all areas of economics.
• The candidate should also be able to do other departmental and university-wide duties as assigned to them.
• S/he will possess an established, or potential to establish, record of excellence in teaching, research and service.
• Candidates should possess a strong record of academic publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and other artistic renditions commensurate with career stage.

 Job Purpose

• The successful candidates will teach courses in Economics.
• Conduct research and publish papers in rigorous peer-reviewed journals.
• Promote the department’s research and scholarly activities by presenting research findings in seminars and conferences.
• Supervise research projects, tutor and mentor students.
• Lead or be part of other committees aimed at promoting research, curriculum development, staff welfare etc.
• Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chair or the Dean.

Person Specification

• Ph.D in Economics
• An outstanding teaching and research record commensurate with career stage.
• Experience in problem centered approach to teaching and learning.
• Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience of developing research proposals for externally funded projects.
• Proven ability to lead and manage the department or other committee in the university.
