Job Title: Merchandiser

General Position Description
  • This role is responsible for the ensuring visual display of correct mix of merchandise at all store outlets. Ensure that the look on mannequins and layout of shop floor and visual display enhances sales.
Job Responsibilities
  • Planning product ranges and preparing sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers;
  • Creating store display at all store outlets.
  • Researching and predicting fashion trends.
  • Producing layout for stores.
  • Liaising with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors;
  • Develop, deliver and communicate visual concepts and strategies to promote sales stores.
  • Working closely with visual display staff and department heads to decide how goods should be displayed to maximize customer interest and sales;
  • Producing layout plans for stores;
  • Planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new ranges;
  • Controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season;
  • Using specialist computer software, for example to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs;
  • Analysing every aspect of bestsellers (for example, the bestselling price points, colours or styles) and ensuring that bestsellers reach their full potential;
  • Maintaining awareness of competitors' performance;
  • Monitoring slow sellers and taking action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary;
  • Gathering information on customers' reactions to products;
  • Analysing previous season's sales and reporting on the current season's lines;
  • Making financial presentations to senior managers;
  • Meeting with suppliers and managing the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates, and completing the necessary paperwork;
  • Managing, training and supervising junior staff.
Qualification and Experiences
  • A Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years experience in a structured process driven organization.
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Management is an advantage.
  • Experience in an FMCG or in the retail fashion industry is an advantage.

  • Ability to achieve results while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills.
  • Experience with ERP Software.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft office suite.
  • Must be creative and imaginative.
  • Must have flair for fashion.
  • Excellent number and data analysis skills, using spreadsheets and computer modelling.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • An understanding of what motivates customers to buy products.
  • Confidence when leading negotiations or presenting at board meetings.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with ability to prioritise.
  • Forecasting ability.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
Remuneration
Salary: N60,000 - N70,000.
