Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (RC 638640), is one of the eleven successor distribution companies of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). Kaduna Electric, a registered trademark of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, is licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute and retail electricity within a service coverage area of Northwestern-most of Nigeria. It has its Headquarters in Kaduna, with offices in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States.

Kaduna Electric is looking to employ young, vibrant professionals to fill the position below in the Engineering and Technical Services Department:

Job Title: Power Service Technician

Job Status: Full-time
Locations: Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States

Job Summary
  • Electrical fitters are responsible for installing and maintenance of switchgears, transformers and power equipments. Maintain records of the repairs and installation done on the equipment. And keep inventory of the equipment and tools necessary for power services maintenance work.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain and repair power system equipment such as MV switchgear, transformers and other power equipment.
  • Troubleshoot power system equipment, devices and system to find the root cause failure and make necessary repair, adjustment and or modification as required.
  • Install, Maintain, troubleshoot and repair Substation DC bank
  • Carry out duties in a multi-skilled team environment, maintaining a tidy and safe work environment.
  • Carry out annual maintenance schedule of all power system equipment, devices and systems in line with the departmental strategy and budget.
  • Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Observe established safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure optimal performance of power system equipment and monitor equipment reliability and performance indices.
  • Keep records of activities and equipment data for future reference and technical reporting.
Experience and Minimum Requirements
  • Secondary school Certificate, Ordinary Diploma/Equivalent
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum of 0-2 year cognate experience
Competency and Skill Requirements
  • Ability to correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including power tools, test equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Be able to assemble and install electrical equipment such as switchgears, transformers RMUs, other and power equipment.
  • Ability to locate and repair faults in electrical equipment.
  • Ability to carry out mechanical fitting and assembling works relevant to heavy current equipment, and machines or fabricate parts for such equipments.
