Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (RC 638640), is one of the eleven successor distribution companies of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). Kaduna Electric, a registered trademark of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, is licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute and retail electricity within a service coverage area of Northwestern-most of Nigeria. It has its Headquarters in Kaduna, with offices in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States.

Kaduna Electric is looking to employ young, vibrant professionals to fill the position below in the Engineering and Technical Services Department:

Job Title: Lead, Operations and Maintenance

Job Status: Full-time
Locations: Kaduna

Job Summary
  • Install, Monitors, Maintains, monitors and controls power system assets in accordance with company's approved standards and international best practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor performances of electrical systems and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate the maintenance activities within his area of coverage.
  • Determine electrical equipment needs and quantities for development of new and upgrading of existing power systems facilities.
  • Ensure efficient distribution of available energy to customers
  • Manage voltage drop, short circuit, power factor, and sag and stress in a timely manner.
  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance of power distribution systems.
  • Maintain and update power system assets.
  • Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Observe established safety regulations and procedures. Identify and notify safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Monitor, test and inspect products to make certain they meet specified standards.
  • Perform RCFA on all critical equipment failures and participates in incident investigations, RCFAs, EMA, RCMs, etc. within assigned areas.
  • Provide technical activities report to Management on monthly basis and or as required.
Experience and Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Master's Degree /or certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-7 year cognate experience
  • Registered Engineer/Professional Membership (NSE, IET, IEEE etc.) is an added advantage.
Competency and Skill Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of power industry applicable International standards (IEEE, IEC, etc.).
  • Good understanding of Power system (NEPLAN, ETAP, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point etc)
  • Be adaptable and able to meet deadlines on assignments and juggle multiple demands as may be required.
  • Understanding of Safety procedures and environmental safety codes.
  • Team player with exceptional leadership qualities.
  • Strong skills in problem solving, and timely problem escalation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
