Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (RC 638640), is one of the eleven successor distribution companies of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). Kaduna Electric, a registered trademark of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, is licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute and retail electricity within a service coverage area of Northwestern-most of Nigeria. It has its Headquarters in Kaduna, with offices in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States.

Kaduna Electric is looking to employ young, vibrant professionals to fill the position below in the Engineering and Technical Services Department:

Job Title: Team Lead, System Operations & Dispatch

Job Status: Full-time
Locations: Kaduna State

Job Summary
  • Directs electric system operations by monitoring, planning, analyzing, directing and executing 24/7 system network operations.
  • Takes responsibility for managing Company system operations and engineering functions to maintain safe and reliable electric service to prevent power outages, in accordance with approved standards and mandatory operational regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Distribute and regulate the flow of power from Transmission substations to distribution Injection Substations keeping track of the status of substations and the network at large.
  • Ensures safe and reliable operation of Kaduna Electric's power delivery and distribution facilities to meet system load needs, meet applicable industry reliability and regulatory standards.
  • Track conditions that could affect power needs, such as system/equipment limitations, changes in the weather etc. and made operational adjustment to meet the anticipated changes.
  • Prepare switching orders that will isolate work areas with minimum power outages.
  • Maintain operational records, logs and prepare technical and operational reports.
  • Issue work permit and work &test permits to electrical maintenance personnel, and assist maintenance and technical personnel to locate and isolate system problems and assist during routine system testing.
  • Provide updated information on any significant system events to appropriate authorities and assist in preparing reports for management on system disturbances, emergencies, or any unusual operating condition or action.
  • Acts independently during an emergency by performing duties in rapid succession involving switching, adjusting load and/or voltage, or extinguishing fires.
Experience and Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Master's Degree /or Certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 year cognate experience
  • Registered Engineer/Professional Membership (NSE, IET, IEEE etc.)
Competency and Skill Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of switching, operation and safety manuals, international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI etc.)and codes of power industry.
  • Familiarity with Power system software.
  • Excellent Team player.
  • Be adaptable and able to meet deadlines on assignments, juggle multiple demands.
  • Strong skills in negotiating, planning, problem solving, and timely problem escalation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
