Job Title: Operator (DCS - Boiler)

Location: Niger

Job Description
DCS Operation:

• Monitor and control boiler operations using a Distributed Control System (DCS).
• Monitor real-time data, trends, and alarms to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Analyze and interpret process data to make informed decisions and adjustments.

Boiler Operation:

• Start up, shut down, and adjust boiler systems as needed to maintain safe and efficient operation.
• Monitor steam pressure, temperature, fuel levels, and other critical parameters to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
• Adjust controls to optimize combustion efficiency and ensure proper heat transfer.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow established safety procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
• Monitor and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions promptly to prevent potential hazards.
• Maintain compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on boiler systems and related equipment.
• Identify and diagnose operational issues, malfunctions, and equipment failures.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to address mechanical and electrical problems.

Data Recording and Reporting:

• Record operational data, process parameters, and maintenance activities accurately.
• Generate reports and logs detailing equipment status, operational events, and maintenance tasks.

Emergency Response:

• Implement emergency procedures and protocols in the event of equipment failures or safety incidents.
• Take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and facilities.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, engineers, and other team members.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to optimize boiler performance and reliability.

Qualifications and Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in boiler operation or related field is a plus.
• Previous experience operating boilers using a Distributed Control System (DCS) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of boiler systems, combustion processes, and steam generation principles.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental standards related to boiler operation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to respond to alarms and emergencies effectively.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems associated with boiler operation.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret data and trends.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
