Africa Youth Growth Foundation is a regional Non-Governmental Organization in Abuja for youth growth, development and empowerment, with a mission of building an African society through constructive engagement with stakeholders expand opportunities for self-development and realization among the youth.

AYGF has an operational base in British Columbia Canada, and Nigeria (Kogi state, Niger State, Ogun State, Katsina state and the FCT- Abuja). Over the years the Organisation has implemented several projects that addressed issues around migration, Public Health, Education, Democratic Governance, livelihood, Climate Change and Environment.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Operations (Finance, Procurement / Logistics, Human Resources / Administrative)

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

  • As the Head of Operations overseeing Finance, Logistics, HR/Admin, and Procurement functions, you will play a pivotal role in driving the operational efficiency and effectiveness of our organization.
  • Your strategic leadership and visionary thinking will be crucial in harmonizing diverse operational aspects to ensure the seamless execution of projects, compliance with regulations, and achievement of our mission to [Mission Statement].

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the AYGF's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Lead procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective sourcing and compliance with procurement guidelines.
  • Streamline logistics and supply chain processes to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
  • Manage HR and administrative functions, including recruitment, staff development, and facilities management.
  • Allocate and manage resources efficiently across departments to optimize operational outcomes.
  • Mentor and lead department heads, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Drive process improvements across functions to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all operations.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Generate insightful reports on operational performance, financial metrics, and key indicators.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform strategic decision-making and enhance organizational performance.
  • Uphold ethical standards and promote transparency, accountability, and integrity in operations.

Essential Requirements

  • A University Degree in any relevant area and post-graduate qualification in Business Studies, Operations Management, or a related area of study
  • 9 - 12 years relevant work experience.
  • Significant management-level experience in a post with operational and administrative responsibility
  • Strong track record of impact and success, with sound financial abilities with a proven record of budget management
  • Proven experience in staff management and influencing people
  • Excellent skills in MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent record-keeping and report-writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with a variety of nationalities and personalities at all levels within the Unit
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, diplomatic, tactful, flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated with a heads-up, hands-on management style and ability to lead by example
  • Ability to multi-task, manage a large workload and adapt to new situations quickly
  • Ability to make tough decisions when required
  • Willingness to live in a rural setting with limited facilities

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an NGO sector and familiarity with the sector's operational framework.
