Job Description

  • We are pleased to announce the vacant position in the Tooling department within the Engineering Division based in Kano, Nigeria. In keeping with our growing business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Position Summary                 

  • Reporting to the Head of Tooling, the Tooling Engineer will be a key resource in the creation of BURN’s tooling designs for existing products, as well as in developing new designs.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Routine servicing, repair, and regrinding of engineering tools
  • Attending relevant system breakdowns, identifying faults, and problem-solving at the press with minimal downtime to aid production.
  • Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in the press or must be removed to the Tool Room for essential maintenance and repair work.0
  • Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage.
  • Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
  • Identify spare requirements and log usage & Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Support new project tooling from the commissioning stages through to the start of production.
  • Manufacture new tooling and ancillary spares to support production activity and customer deadlines.

Key Qualifications                  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in tooling engineering or a related role
  • Working knowledge of CAD software programs (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
  • Sound knowledge of Sheet metal tools manufacturing process.
  • Strong understanding of production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Mechanical aptitude, and ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
  • Well-organized with a good sense of teamwork and collaboration.
