Underline Solutions Consulting - Our client is a top and forward-looking indigenous Player in the Waste Management sector of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry with retainership of some major IOCs as Principals. The company has maintained very successful operations in the industry for about 20 years, with well-equipped and functional operational bases/locations at Port Harcourt, Bonny and Forcados-Warri. The Company’s core services are in the areas of; Environmental, Engineering design, and fabrication, oil contaminated waste management, spill site cleanup/remediation and tank cleaning.

Job Title: Marine Operations / Logistics Manager

Locations: Primarily Port Harcourt, Rivers and Warri, Delta

Job Description

  • Successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management, coordination and harnessing of opportunities within the marine department of the Company’s operations.
  • Also, the efficient, safe and profitable deployment of Company’s marine assets/ equipment shall form part of candidate’s responsibility.

Other Responsibilities

  • Supervise the completion of activities undertaken by the Company by means of relevant Marine Logistics Department contracts, agreements or by international and local marine legislative bodies.
  • Evaluate researches and studies related to the shipping industry especially for marine vessels, equipment and machinery pertaining to the existing fleet modification, supplementary and additional ship acquirement strategy.
  • Bring to the attention and advise the General Manager, Operations on all issues of importance and relevant marine rules, regulations and procedures, which concerns the Marine Logistics Department.
  • Monitor activities of the Marine Logistics in the achievement of annual and long-term objectives.
  • Prepare Marine Logistics Department annual budget and administer expenditures.
  • Review fleet revenue invoicing.
  • Set and implement Marine Logistics Department objectives to support Company's business planning and development.
  • Monitor subordinates’ proper implementation of Department objectives.
  • Communicate with the international and local marine legislative bodies regarding new and amended rules and regulations.
  • Monitor fleet compliance to the international, local and clients’ rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with relevant clients regarding management of change to Company's fleet equipment, HSE and operational procedures and practices.
  • Review the improvement of Company's Health Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS).

Requirements / Skills

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in the relevant field.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in Marine Operations/Logistics Management, with a track record of success in the oil and gas industry or shipping industry.
  • Act as a role model in the marine operations/logistics department
  • Be able to manage personnel with different cultural backgrounds.
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues to develop knowledge, skills and competencies. Provide objective and constructive feedback in an appropriate way.
  • Stimulate a result-oriented organizational culture by regularly sharing the marine logistics department performance and results.
  • Be able to translate department targets into concrete and measurable goals for the marine logistics department for a timely achievement of goals.
  • Take ownership of own objectives agreed upon and of the objectives of the department.
  • Investigate, understand and respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Build and maintain strategically important client and contractor relations.
  • Proactively serve and constructively respond to external client needs in order to meet business priorities.
