It is a development organization engaging in the planning, procurement, construction and management of infrastructure and spaces. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Project Officer

Location: Lagos

Description 

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceive and design innovative projects focusing on urban development and climate-resilient infrastructure including water, wastewater, energy, urban flooding, mobility, and overall city systems.
  • Integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies into project plans, addressing sensitive vulnerability to climate-related disruptions in cities.
  • Develop urban development and infrastructure project proposals and support various urban and infrastructure policy formulation programs.
  • Coordinate the preparation of feasibility and implementation plans for urban development and climate-resilient infrastructure.
  • Oversee the execution of projects, logically adhering to established plans, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate and sustain robust partnerships with the private sector, development partners, government institutions, communities, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Promote seamless teamwork among all the project actors, reducing potential drawbacks and ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Engage the Board of Directors from time to time on the status of projects and integrate the Board’s opinions into the project implementation framework.
  • Maintain detailed records on and offline of project activities, databases, financial allocations, and key learnings for future reference.
  • Generate comprehensive reports showcasing project status, outcomes, and tangible impact, effectively communicating successes and areas for growth to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage advanced data collection techniques and cutting-edge technologies, such as remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), and other modeling tools to mobilize accurate and reliable urban development and infrastructure information.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to discern trends, identify emerging challenges, and seize opportunities to bolster climate resilience strategies uniquely tailored to local needs.
  • Conduct culturally sensitive capacity-building sessions, equipping team members, local officials, and community representatives with the necessary knowledge and skills for sustainable water management.
  • Lead in the scoping and implementation action planning for emerging projects in Nigerian and African cities.

Requirements
The incumbent will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a relevant field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience overseeing and implementing urban development or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Membership in the relevant professional association is a must.
  • Profound comprehension of sustainable urban development and resilient infrastructure, including water, wastewater, energy, and urban flooding, is a good advantage.
  • Good knowledge of the finance market and funding models to drive urban development or infrastructure-related projects.
  • In-depth local knowledge of distinctive climate impact challenges in African cities, encompassing rapid urbanization, population expansion, and low threshold of coping mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, spanning project conception, execution, monitoring, and transparent reporting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and persuasive communication abilities, facilitating engagement across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Expertise in data analysis tools and software, leveraging advanced technologies to extract valuable insights and inform decision-making.
  • Proficiency in the utilization of specialized software like hydrological models, GIS applications, and data visualization tools.
  • Track record of quantifiable achievements in previous projects, underscoring the ability to drive tangible positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capacity for innovative thinking and creative problem-solving, indispensable for addressing complex urban challenges in cities.
  • Ability to use visuals, graphics, and other strategic communication and presentation tools are good advantages.
