Halcom Management Services (HMS) - Our client, an international standard, multi-speciality, acute hospital located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2024. Facilities and services provided include: emergency care, surgical, medical, internal medicine, family medicine, renal care, gynecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, pathology, physiotherapy radiology and pharmacy. Job Title: Nursing Assistant (General Maternity, Paediatrics)

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Department: Nursing

Responsibilities

  • To render and promote quality patient care in accordance with best practice standards and hospital policies Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse / Unit Manager within her scope of practice. 

Job Requirements

  • WASSCE / SSCE or equivalent
  • Current Registration as Nursing Assistant with the Nurses and Midwife Association of Nigeria
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a private hospital
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and show initiative
  • Competent record keeping – keep patient records updated, legible. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology necessary to perform duties effectively
  • Knowledge of appropriate use and care of ward equipment 
  • Adherence to infection control policy and control and comply with standard precautions 
  • Clear and effective communication both verbally and in writing.  
  • Good verbal communication skills with patients, relatives and understand instructions
