Halcom Management Services (HMS) - Our client, an international standard, multi-speciality, acute hospital located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2024. Facilities and services provided include: emergency care, surgical, medical, internal medicine, family medicine, renal care, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, pathology, physiotherapy radiology and pharmacy. Skilled and professional staff form the foundation of a well-run hospital. The hospital will provide up-to-date facilities and services allowing our medical professionals to work efficiently and effectively.

Job Title: Technical and Maintenance Manager

Summary of Responsibilities

  • We are seeking to employ suitably qualified, customer-orientated person to maintain hospital facilities, utilities, equipment, motor vehicles and other non-medical equipment in the most cost efficient and effective manner with least down time and within approved budgets. Note: the term “equipment” refers to all fixed and movable assets as may require maintenance of any form

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical heavy current engineering; or Trade tested with minimum of N5 certificate with electrical / electro-techniques 
  • A management qualification would be an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance in a healthcare setting 
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and requirements
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills ensuring co-operation and clear concise communication with subordinates, management, suppliers, contractors and internal customers,
  • Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Scheduling software)
  • Ability to engage various stakeholders and must be able to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Leadership skills – ability to motivate and create a productive work environment
  • Problem solving ability in order to prioritize work based on need, manage maintenance metrics and budgets, through the interpretation of data, evaluation of all alternatives, and considering top priorities.
  • People Development – identify areas for improvement and provide staff with the training and development opportunities needed.
  • Time Management – setting goals, planning, prioritizing and scheduling the work.
  • Teamwork -encourages team ethic – reliable, respectful, cooperative, flexible, committed to both team and task at hand.
  • Adaptability- ability to adapt quickly in response to changing circumstances and environments. Willing to embrace new ideas, new ways of working, and new technologies. Ability to facilitate change. 
  • Stress management skills and ability to work under pressure.
