Halcom Management Services (HMS) - Our client, an international standard, multi-speciality, acute hospital located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2024. Facilities and services provided include: emergency care, surgical, medical, internal medicine, family medicine, renal care, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics, pathology, physiotherapy radiology and pharmacy. Job Title: Phlebotomist

Summary of Responsibilities

• Ensuring the accurate collection of blood samples, crucial for diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
• Ensuring the correct labelling and organizing of samples, proper handling and transport of specimens to the laboratory whilst adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols and providing a high level of patient care and comfort.
• Commitment to safety, accuracy, and patient care is essential for the successful operation of the hospital.

Job Requirements

• WASSCE / SSCE / or equivalent
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification from a recognized organization (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to blood collection.
• Understanding of medical terminology and laboratory procedures 
• Meticulous with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Physical dexterity and stamina for prolonged standing and repetitive tasks.
