Adexen Recruitment Agency has been mandated by one of the largest fabrication / EPC companies in Nigeria to recruit a Senior Buyer - Mechanical with specialty in Structure, Piping/Fittings and Package for its operations in Port Harcourt.

Our client, one of the leading engineering and fabrication services company providing construction and general fabrication services to the Nigerian oil & gas industry, is recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Description

The Buyer/Expeditor position will be responsible to proactively receive specifications, qualify suppliers, source and supply competitive bids to meet quality and specification requirements.
  • Receive generic specifications and source competitive bids from qualified suppliers that meet the Specification, quality, budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Work according to company’s Business Principles & Ethics and Code of Business Conduct of being reliable, trustworthy and fair.
  • Create and Expedites purchase orders and send copies to suppliers for acknowledgement and to departments originating the requests.
  • Perform commercial negotiation; ensure the best deal for the company.
  • Issues Purchase Orders for approval in line with process guidelines and specified approval limits.
  • Attend any project / product line meetings in support of the commodity team.
  • Responsible for continually working with “key” suppliers to ensure clear scope definition and cost reduction programs
  • Maintains adequate vendor documentation and/or specification on sources of supply, costs, delivery, vendor performance ratings, and quality requirements
  • Organizes technical evaluation of bids and ensures Purchase Orders comply with appropriate specifications, conditions and clauses.
  • Investigate delayed payment problems with accounting personnel and various districts to exchange information and correct errors
  • Provide information regarding status of purchase orders and answer telephone call and communicate with vendors and sales team to exchange information and explain district procedures and policies.
  • Responsible for the promotion of Company safety, environment and quality policies and programs, carrying out specific HSE duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement/Logistics/Business management or any related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with ERP systems and good supplier communication skills.
  • Working experience with above average oral and written skills.
  • Work independently, establish priorities and make decisions.
  • Interact effectively with people from various backgrounds.
