Position Title:       Logistics Assistant

Duty Station:  Abuja, Nigeria

Organizational Office:  WHO Representative's Office, Nigeria

Duration:  1 Year, Special Service Agreement

Responsibilities: 

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer, under the daily supervision of the ZC, the incumbent performs the following functions:

  • Maintain an up to date inventory of Zonal and State offices within the Zone. Prepare a monthly inventory report with indicative analysis giving recommendations on need for replacement and/or purchase of additional equipment. Assist with arrangements for repair or disposal of non-functional equipment.
  • Evaluate requests for local purchase from the Zonal and State offices in the zone.
  • Provide guidance on handling of non-functional equipment and assist with arrangements for proper disposal. In the zonal office, liaise with suppliers to prepare quotation bids for supplies, services and equipment, analyze received quotations, advise on the best quotes, and coordinate with administrative unit for payment. Ensure delivery and quality of supplies and equipment from vendors and timely on-forwarding to state offices.
  • Manage and monitor stocks and movement of office consumables and equipment.
  • Liaise regularly with state offices in the zone to monitor operations activities and report on vehicles, staff movements, and security related matters from zones. Regularly assess logistics needs for zonal and state offices and make recommendations for implementation. Candidate must be available to travel extensively to all states in the zone as assigned.
  • Oversee zonal radio room operations and zonal radio operations staff.
  • Maintain an updated record of the location, duty station, contact information for all EPI staff in the zone, including those on leave.
  • Assist the zonal coordinator to monitor and report on security matters related to staff safety. Support the wardens in maintaining a functional and documented staff residence mapping. Alert staff on security matters in the zone.
  • Organize and conduct in-house training for EPI staff on operations-related topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • University Degree (BSc or BEng) in Electrical Engineering with Inventory and Management experience.
  • Diploma in advanced computer training or higher with IT management experience.
  • Diploma qualification in logistics management an added advantage.
  • Must possess a valid driving license.
  • Experience handling personnel related issues (compulsory)
  • 3 years experience in management responsibilities an added advantage
  • Candidate must be willing to travel extensively to all states in Nigeria as assigned.

Knowledge and skills:
  • Proven typing ability and knowledge of modern office procedures.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • A proven report writing ability (compulsory)
