Job Description
- The Centre Director will report to the Board of Trustees and take full responsibility for the overall management of the Centre to realize the vision of its founders and deliver on its mandate.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide overall leadership, and direction for implementing all approved policies and initiatives designed to realize the vision of the Centre.
- Lead the process of developing appropriate long-range strategies to guarantee the performance of the Centre and its financial sustainability.
- Develop and implement engaging exhibitions and educational programs
- Use his/her professional network to build strategic partnerships with local and international agencies and institutions with similar mandates the Centre, thereby accelerating the achievement of its goal of financial that would benefit the Centre.
- Lead all initiatives to create and sustain alternative funding sources for autonomy.
- Create an environment that fosters commitment, creativity, and strong work ethics among the employees of the Centre.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
- The requirement is for a candidate with a Master's Degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Archaeology, or a related field, with a minimum of fifteen years proven leadership experience in a cultural or heritage institution. A post-graduate qualification in a business-related discipline would offer a distinct advantage.
- The successful candidate would have a track record of professional accomplishments in the management of a museum or cultural center with concentration in African history, and demonstrable success in fund-raising and institutional planning.
- He must also possess excellent leadership and organizational skills and commitment to excellence in corporate governance, and institutional development.
