Job Description

  • The Curatorial Director leads the museum's exhibitions and collections-focused initiatives and activities. Reporting to the Center Director, he will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the museum curatorial activities, including exhibition planning, collection management, and research.

Responsibilities
Importantly, his/her key roles will include:

  • Establishing policies and procedures, and long-range planning for exhibitions
  • Supervising and supporting curatorial participation throughout the process of exhibition, publication, research, and programming proposal development and implementation
  • Fostering collaboration with artists, scholars, and other cultural institutions.
  • Establishing priorities and plans for collection care, research, documentation, and access implementing gallery and exhibition experiences that engage diverse audiences
  • Providing direction for the growth of collections, through acquisitions and gifts, as well as long-term planning and priorities for the management and conservation of works in the collection.
  • Partnering with the Centre Director and relevant departments to build relationships with existing donors and potential donors, foundations, collectors, dealers, artists,

Qualification / Experience / Skills

  • The requirement is a for a Master's Degree in Museum Studies, Art History and a related field. The knowledge of current museum technology and trends is essential.
  • The role requires ten years cognate experience, four (4) of which must be in leadership position(s) in a reputable museum.
  • Though preference will be given to candidates with curatorial backgrounds, candidates with good track records and backgrounds in exhibition planning and development in art museums and art conservation are encouraged to apply.
  • Participating in special department projects, especially those involving collections storage, object transport, emergency response, and exhibition.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the lab and related equipment, recommending new equipment and lab upgrades, and collaborating for purchasing supplies and equipment for conservation activities.
