The West African Centre For Public Health and Development (WACPHD-UOM-IGPH) is a non-governmental organization working on the improvement of health equity through sustained engagement with a core element approach that includes Research, Program delivery, Technical Assistance, and Education.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: State Supervisor

Locations: Edo, Imo and Enugu (Two (2) Position Per State)
Report To: The Project Coordinator/Program manager
Duration of engagement: Three (3) months

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the respective SACAs/ other stakeholders to ensure smooth operationalization of the Review Project at the state level.
  • Plan daily field activity along with the field team.
  • Arrange for interviews in his/her specific state.
  • To conduct daily briefing meetings every morning before field work and at the end of the day’s work, providing necessary guidelines to team members.
  • Debrief the team during meetings, discuss field issues and suggest appropriate solutions where required.
  • Supervision of field team during interviews daily.
  • Participate in weekly update meetings with the national office.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods of Data collection.
  • Maintain close contact with team members to closely monitor and support data collection at each stage including sampling specifications (sampling points, selection of respondents), and interviewing specifications.
  • Randomly review and edit completed data entry (on tablet) to ensure that all entry filled by the team members meet quality standard.
  • Maintenance of data collection updates for his/her specific team members using a tracker/checklist.
  • Act as a resource person for the field team members by providing answers and clarification to questions that may arise in the field.
  • Monitor work progress, prepare and submit weekly reports to the National office.
  • Undertake any other task, within the boundaries of the project, as may be assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • First Degree or Master's Degree in Biological, Health and medical field
  • Previous experience in coordination of research work especially among key population in Nigeria
  • Ability to manage complex organisational structure and lead team effectively.
  • Must be literate and fluent in English.
  • Ability to use qualitative (e.g., NVivo) and other quantitative analytical software.
  • Working knowledge of local languages within the state of operation is an advantage.
