Job Title: Transcriber
Locations: Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, Rivers and Taraba (Two (2) Position Per State)
Duration of engagement: 2 Months maximum
Job Description
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for listening to audio recordings and accurately transcribing the content into written form.
- The transcriber should possess excellent listening skills, a strong command of the English language, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- The Transcribers will report to the Senior Data Analyst.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Transcriber will serve in the following capacities:
- Ability to listen and compile audio recordings during KII, IDI and FGDs sessions.
- Ability to create verbatim and accurate written versions of recordings.
- To review and edit transcriptions done by speech recognition software and identify any inconsistencies.
- You must complete transcriptions in a timely manner and review drafts for any spelling, grammar, or formatting errors, as well as other inconsistencies.
- Communicating with the data collectors and supervisors when there are issues.
- Submit completed drafts to supervisors and correct any errors from their feedback.
- Undertake any other study-related task as may be assigned by line managers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must have at least B.Sc or its equivalent (HND, OND, etc) in relevant field.
- Must have 1-3 years working experience.
- Must be familiar with NVivo software.
- Able to use an android device proficiently.
- Ability to adhere to research ethics is important.
- A previous history of engaging in similar research is an advantage.
- Fluency in understanding and speaking of local languages is also an advantage.
