Function
- Design Engineer will be responsible for basic floating vessel stability and motion calculations, basic structural design and marine issues associated with jack-up drilling units.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Solving engineering design and analysis problems in support of the Engineering Discipline Manager or Project Manager.
- Perform inspections and attend tests of construction work to ensure compliance with approved drawings, workmanship standards, and contract specifications.
- Attend, when requested, vessel inspections to define the scope of work required for vessel modifications, repairs and conversions.
- Coordinate the work of CAD designers, technicians and contractors to ensure quality standards and design criteria are met.
- Organize technical discussions with subcontractors and vendors in order to specify designs or systems necessary for an engineering project.
- Coordinate regulatory and classification body reviews and approvals.
- Support and assist rig operations staff, shipyard teams and marketing staff with technical queries and coordinate resolutions as required.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and calculations in compliance with classification and regulatory rules, and ensure adequate standards of safety are incorporated.
Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or M.E. in Engineering, major in Naval Architecture, Civil, Marine or Ocean Engineering.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Medicals, BOSIET and Intimate familiarity with marine-related vessel systems or structures
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years work experience
