Job Summary

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Assistant to join our team.
  • The Compliance Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to legal standards and in-house policies.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Stay up to date with changes in regulations and inform the team about new compliance requirements.
  • Documentation: Support in maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of compliance activities, reports, and assessments. Prepare and organize compliance-related documents for internal and external audits.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the implementation of compliance-related policies and procedures. Provide guidance and support to staff members to ensure they understand and adhere to compliance standards.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor compliance processes and report any violations or discrepancies. Prepare detailed reports on compliance activities and present findings to the Compliance Team/Supervisor.
  • Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting risk assessments and evaluating the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, and support developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Communication: Collaborate with different units to facilitate communication regarding compliance issues and provide guidance on compliance matters.
  • Compliance Audits: Assist in conducting internal compliance audits. Prepare for external audits by organizing and reviewing documentation to ensure all necessary materials are in order.
  • Training: Should be able to provide guidance to other employees on issues relating to compliance policies and procedures. Provide ongoing support to ensure staff awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree / HND in Accounting / Finance.
  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience working in a compliance-related role, preferably in an NGO.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in conducting compliance training sessions.
