Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in 1998 as a non-governmental Organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the Country. The Organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria in September 2004.
NEPWHAN is now Seventeen (17) Years Old as a vibrant patient community network in Nigeria. The network formed since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 1, 030 support groups membership across the Federation making it one of the biggest Patient network in Africa. Our GOALNEPWHAN has formed constituent bodies; Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to advocate and provide HIV programming intervention for the specific needs of their targets and members.
Position Summary
- The Technical Specialist - AGYW will be responsible for technical oversight of the Adolescents Girls Young Women component of the NEPWHAN Global Fund program.
- This includes the design, implementation, and monitoring of sound technical strategies and interventions targeting AGYW and HIV Prevention as well as ensuring the integration of interventions with the other key program areas.
Essential Job Functions/ Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as the lead technical expert on the delivery of prevention services to AGYW. S/He will provide expert guidance on appropriate technical and programmatic approaches for scale up of prevention and other sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for AGYW.
- Lead interventions related to HIV Testing Services treatment, care, and support services for Adolescent Girls and Young Women.
- Provide oversight and support to Community-Based Organizations to ensure layering of services for HIV prevention in AGYW.
- Recommends evidence-based improvements in the delivery of AGYW and Prevention services.
- Work with the PR and other SRs to ensure that AGYW interventions are fully integrated into the program design and activities, including monitoring and evaluation.
- Ensure engagement with civil society organizations representing the interest of key and vulnerable populations.
Minimum Requirements and Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Medicine, Public Health, or any related field with 3 - 5 years post-NYSC experience.
- Experience implementing Adolescent, Girls and Young Women interventions with a reputable organization.
- Demonstrated experience in Global Fund HIV prevention programs targeted at vulnerable populations.
- Background in capacity building (training, mentoring, technical assistance provision) is an added asset.
