Job Title: Professional Chef

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Primary Responsibilities

  • Stock, organize, and clean kitchens and cooking utensils.
  • Shop for or order food and kitchen supplies and equipment.
  • Serve meals and snacks to employing families and their guests.
  • Plan menus according to employers' needs and diet restrictions.
  • Plan and prepare food for parties, holiday meals, luncheons, special functions, and other social events.
  • Peel, wash, trim, and cook vegetables and meats, and bake breads and pastries.
  • Direct the operation and organization of kitchens and all food-related activities, including the presentation and serving of food.
  • Travel with employers to vacation homes to provide meal preparation at those locations.
  • Specialize in preparing fancy dishes and/or food for special diets.
  • Create and explore new cuisines.

Specific Job Activities Required:

  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your day-to-day work in the kitchen
  • Monitoring and Controlling Resources - Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money for the kitchen
  • Performing General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Thinking Creatively - Developing, designing, or creating new menus
  • Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge - Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job as a chef
  • Performing Administrative Activities - Performing day-to-day simple administrative tasks such as food menus and market lists.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems in the kitchen
  • Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Judging the Qualities of food - Assessing the value, importance, or quality of food.

Key Performance Indicators
Incumbent must demonstrate:

  • Proper Hygiene and food handling
  • Ability to prepare both Nigerian & Continental dishes
  • Ability to work within a food budget
  • Proper etiquette skills in table setting and serving
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Management of Material Resources - Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.
  • Your job description may vary from time to time due to amendment and additional duties as required to meet the Company’s needs.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess culinary qualifications from a reputable culinary school with relevant work experience.
  • Age:28 - 35 years.

Salary
N200,000 Monthly.
