About Program / Project

  • HortiNigeria program, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), is to contribute to the sustainable development of the Nigerian vegetable sector.  It is a 4-year program being implemented by consortium partners and led by the International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) in four states (Kaduna, Kano, Ogun and Oyo States)
  • HortiNigeria, which is seeking systemic change in the horticulture sector, will facilitate the development of a sustainable and gender- and youth-inclusive horticulture sector that contributes to nutritional security in Nigeria. 
  • The program seeks to ensure inclusive access to the business opportunities the sector is increasingly offering, with specific emphasis on women and youths.
  • Our goal is aligned with the Dutch and Nigerian food security and private sector development objectives and fits within the framework of the larger transformation of food systems in Nigeria.
  • The program will enhance the social capital and contribute to the empowerment of smallholder farmers and value chain actors, with a particular focus on women and youths, and it will incentivize value chains and support the sustainable integration of entrepreneurial farmers into profitable markets.
  • The program will foster change through scaling proven eco-efficient production technologies for sustainable intensification, deepening value chain relations and performance and promoting innovation in the enabling environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support in gathering regular (quarterly) data and information from program’s implementing partners and key stakeholders;
  • Assist to ensure quality control over data and information flows;
  • Develop database to store all data and information in an accessible, safe and orderly fashion, as per IFDC’s tools and policy;
  • Process data and information in such a way to enable the uploading and visualization of key indicators on the program’s dashboard and IATI platform;
  • Support the organization and implementation of endline field surveys, and ensure quality control over data flows;
  • Facilitate Mid Term Review process.
  • Facilitate the process on the effect of new government policies survey.
  • Work with team to prepare and submit annual report.
  • Ensure timely support of IATI report.
  • Support in organizing and facilitating multiple and large learning events.

Reporting and Work Relationships:

  •       Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

Job Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree and preferably a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies or other relevant fields, with preferably at least three (3) years’ work experience in a similar role;
  • Be a proficient user of software for data analysis and management (Excel, SPSS, STATA);
  • Have experience working with performance indicator measurement and result-based planning approaches;
  • Be dynamic and entrepreneurial and have a collaborative and team spirit;
  • Have ability to deliver accurate and timely reports
  • Be precise and rigorous and willing and eager to learn about program MEL
