Iris Consulting - Our client is a fast moving consumer goods company and the largest manufacturer of its product category in sub-saharan Africa with factory in Agbara Industrial Estate and Administrative Offices in Ikeja. To strengthen the company's management team, the company needs an experienced and competent female chartered accountant to lead the Accounts Team.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Head of Account

Position Summary

As Head of Accounts, you will be responsible for overseeing the functions of the Accounts Department and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s accounting system and financial information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop procedures and accurate implementation of the recording, classifying, and summarizing of daily financial transactions
  • Generate financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow) monthly
  • Ensure general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and other financial records and schedules are accurately maintained
  • Institute policies and procedures capable of protecting the business resources against waste, fraud, and inefficiency.
  • Maintain procedures to establish tight control over cash and stock transactions
  • Ensure timely follow up and collections of accounts receivable
  • Evaluate & implement internal and external audit recommendations & provide feedback to management on results
  • Implement budget and forecast preparation schedule by collecting relevant business data and projections from the line departments and provide relevant analyses and feedback to enable finalization of the budget and forecast proposals and all related reports including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements
  • Generating monthly, quarterly & yearly management reports
  • Liaising with company’s external auditors during audits by providing necessary information and managing relationships.
  • Provide support, service and advice in all finance matters to the company's management.
  • Exercise budgetary controls, accounting & physical controls and credit control as per laid down procedures
  • Manage fixed assets.
  • Maintaining an effective involvement and understanding of the business in order to contribute to key business decisions within the Company through financial advice and expertise.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Female with good leadership and coaching qualities.
  • ACA, ACCA or ICMA or the like from an internationally recognized accounting body.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Economics, Finance or in other Social Science disciplines from a reputable University.
  • At least 5 -7 years of practical experience, preferably obtained from a top class manufacturing operation
  • Possession of strong communication skills
  • Very good in using Microsoft spreadsheet application for manipulating financial data
  • Good knowledge of accounting software and information reporting and presentation applications
  • Very good analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good supervisory management and leadership skills.
  • Very good team work and communication skills (verbal, listening, writing and presentation).
