IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Job Title: Research Assistant

Background and Responsibilities
- Assist in experimenting , planning, setting up and implementation on the field and tissue culture laboratory;
- Engage in tissue culture medium preparation, sub-culturing, washing containers e.t.c.;
- Collect plan data from breeding crossing blocks fields established for tissue culture experiments;
- Assist in harvesting yam tubers and seed from the field the field experiments after applying tissue culture technique;
- Collect samples from yam field (flowers, anthers, ovaries and florescence) and carry out analysis on them in the lab;
- Organize laboratory work for tissue culture experiments and trials;
- Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
- B.Sc. in Agriculture, Botany, Plant Science, Microbiology or related field with minimum of two (2) years’ experience on plant tissue culture and related field.
