Job Title: Snail Farm Attendant

Location: Mowe, Ogun

Job Description

• We are currently looking for a Snail Attendant for the rearing and breeding snails for processed retail sales purposes.
• You are expected to oversee the day-to-day running and ensure there are smooth and efficient operations on the farm.
• The Snail Farm Attendant is expected to manage and carry out duties associated with the day-to-day management of our snail farm:
• We provide comfortable accommodation on the farm site, with 24-hour residents and internet data but keep in mind the farm is located in Mowe Ofada.

Responsibilities

• Direction and Coordination of snail farm.
• Vast knowledge and ability in the process of de-shelling, cleaning,smoking, and packaging of snails.
• Recording of important information which includes stock-taking.
• Controlling Mortality Rate.
• Submission of daily/weekly report to line manager on-farm activities.
• Ensuring Production targets are met.
• Ensuring that the snail farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards.
• Possessing stock skills such as snail handling, spawning, grading, and harvesting.
• Updating knowledge of snail health and nutrition.
• Understanding legislation and how to implement this into practical application.
• Calculating the feeding regime and techniques.
• Monitoring the health of the snail and treating them when appropriate.
• Planning growing schedules to obtain maximum efficiency.
• Adhering to environmental standards.
• Ensuring the water supply is of a sufficient quality for the stock.
• Paying close attention to detail to avoid expensive snail losses.
• Being aware of different water management techniques.
• Adapting to new technologies as they develop and learning practical skills.

Requirements

• A minimum of OND in any relevant field
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Calm, polite, and professional behavior
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• 3- 5 years’ prior practical work experience on a snail farm.
• 4 years or more in the same field is also considered.
• Have enthusiasm for snails and their welfare.
• Environment and nature conservation conscious.
• Know administration and operating a snail farm.
• Possess well organizational, communication, and personality and the ability to do tasks in a stressful environment.
• Ability to maintain a strict snail schedule and plan.

Salary

• N50,000 monthly with appropriate incentives including feeding.
• Is salary negotiable? Yes, after 4/6 months, when production sales begin.
