About the Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) Project

  • The GC7 project will be implemented in Gombe and Kwara state with the goal of providing end-to-end HIV comprehensive services in the 2 states through client centered facility-community based approaches.
  • In line with Global Fund (GF) strategy of working with and serving the health needs of people and communities to end AIDS, TB and Malaria, SFH will utilize the programme essentials for GC7 which include HIV primary prevention, HIV testing and Diagnosis, elimination of vertical transmission, HIV treatment and care, TB/HIV, Differentiated service delivery, and Gender and Human rights.

Job Profile

  • The responsibilities of the clinical supervisor include provision of ART and PrEP services to KPs, clinical management of HIV associated comorbidities as well as coordination of monthly review of OSS clinical operations and achievement using data generated from preceding month. 
  • The setup of this service will require the successful staff to manage services delivery at the OSS.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:

Patient Care:

  • Conduct thorough medical assessments and examinations of patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical history.
  • Monitor patient progress and response to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and other treatments.
  • Address complications and side effects related to HIV/AIDS and its medications.

Treatment Management:

  • Prescribe appropriate antiretroviral medications and other therapies as required.
  • Educate patients about treatment adherence, potential side effects, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Ensure timely follow-up appointments and necessary laboratory investigations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.

Team Management and Capacity Building:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team (both the OSS and cART), providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure effective performance of the OSS and cART team.
  • Identify capacity gaps and facilitate training topics for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct educational sessions for clients and partners regarding HIV/AIDS, prevention, care and treatment where needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in HIV/AIDS treatment.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all clients.
  • Prepare reports on patient outcomes, treatment efficacy, and any challenges faced in care provision.
  • Ensure compliance with GC7 and national reporting requirements.

Quality Improvement:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance HIV care services.
  • Identify areas for improvement in patient care, treatment protocols, and service delivery.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years post NYSC experience; 2 of which should be working in an OSS setting
  • Experience in managing HIV/AIDS clients and familiarity with antiretroviral therapy.

Skills and competencies: 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices related to HIV/AIDS.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and providing compassionate care.
  • Good relationship management/ advocacy skills
  • Ability to provide Health Education and Counselling to clients
  • Implementing and overseeing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, adherence to treatment, and overall outcomes.

Special Consideration
Special consideration will be given to candidates who:

  • Have worked in a similar role
  • Have a good understanding of public health principles, including disease surveillance, prevention strategies, and community-based interventions to control the spread of HIV among Key and General populations.
  • Have worked effectively with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, adherence counsellors, case managers and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to HIV patients.
  • Have the ability to analyse epidemiological data related to HIV/AIDS to understand trends, prevalence rates, and outcomes.
