Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Ensure the compliance of health, safety and environmental policies by the employees and contract
- Perform daily inspections of the plant and work sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and correct deviations observed immediately.
- Ensure that employees have proper safety training and are aware of hazards in their work environment.
- Support the development of OHS policies and programs
- Planning safe working practices and making necessary changes
- Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation
- Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely
- Identifying potential hazards
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures
- Safely handling hazardous substances
- Keeping up to date with developments within the profession
- Investigating/recording and following up incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health and making recommendations.
- Writing internal health and safety policies/strategies and safe operational procedures
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.
Requirements
- A minimum of BSc/HND in a Health, Safety, or Environmental field of study
- A minimum of 3 years’ previous experience as health and safety officer.
- HSE Qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of Industrial HSE standards and processes.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organization skills
- Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
- Leadership skills.
