Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the compliance of health, safety and environmental policies by the employees and contract
  • Perform daily inspections of the plant and work sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and correct deviations observed immediately.
  • Ensure that employees have proper safety training and are aware of hazards in their work environment.
  • Support the development of OHS policies and programs
  • Planning safe working practices and making necessary changes
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation
  • Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely
  • Identifying potential hazards
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures
  • Safely handling hazardous substances
  • Keeping up to date with developments within the profession
  • Investigating/recording and following up incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health and making recommendations.
  • Writing internal health and safety policies/strategies and safe operational procedures
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of BSc/HND in a Health, Safety, or Environmental field of study
  • A minimum of 3 years’ previous experience as health and safety officer.
  • HSE Qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Industrial HSE standards and processes.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
  • Leadership skills.
