Job Overview

  • We are seeking a passionate and qualified Music Teacher with a strong background in music education to inspire students of all ages.
  • The successful candidate must have a profound understanding of various musical genres and be capable of teaching a wide range of instruments.
  • The Music Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and implement a well-rounded music curriculum aligned with educational standards.
  • Design lesson plans covering musical concepts such as theory, history, composition, and performance.

Instruction and Delivery:

  • Deliver effective music lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Provide individual and group instruction in various musical instruments, voice, and music theory.

Performance Coaching:

  • Prepare students for performances, recitals, and competitions.
  • Offer constructive feedback and guidance to enhance students' musical skills and expressiveness.

Classroom Management:

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and collaboration.
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior and enforce established rules and expectations.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' musical progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about current trends and advancements in music education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and parents to support students' overall development.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Music or a related field from an A'list university in Nigeria or abroad; a postgraduate degree and teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) are desirable.
  • Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience teaching music at a school.
  • Familiarity with the British National Curriculum for Music.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in playing and teaching three or more musical instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and various musical genres.
