Job Title: Import / Export Liaising Officer

Job Summary

  • The role will involve liaising with various stakeholders, including shipping companies, customs brokers, government agencies, and internal departments, to ensure smooth and efficient import and export operations.

Responsibilities

  • Export Documentation from Pro-forma Invoice, NXP, BL, Customs document.
  • Managing the seamless movement of the consignments to the port and then the destination
  • Administering export procedures and documentation and effective liaison with Nigerian Customs, sales departments, the plant, and Logistics department, etc;
  • Coordinating with government Authorities for various requirements connected to the export handling
  • To meet the end line of shipment as per schedule
  • Ensure zero detention charges for empty containers
  • Maintain control and ensure regulations to all import and export processes and monitor work according to corporate and local policies and evaluate all-new custom requirements and supervise everyday operations according to standard procedures.
  • Prepare and process import and export documents, including invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations, packing lists, and certificates of origin, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, such as shipping companies, customs brokers, and government agencies, to ensure timely clearance and delivery of goods.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and any issues or delays.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all import and export activities, including shipment details, documentation, and compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and report on changes in import and export regulations and policies that may affect the company's operations.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed, and that all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to documentation or shipments, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a satisfactory resolution

Qualifications

  • B.Sc / HND in any relevant discipline.
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in import/export documentation and management.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs procedures, tariffs, and licensing requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
