Job Title: Compliance Officer

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Compliance Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust compliance framework. The primary objective is to prevent and detect violations of laws, regulations, and internal policies, thereby mitigating legal and financial risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Communicate policies to employees and provide training to ensure understanding and adherence
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the industry.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential compliance vulnerability.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide training sessions to employees on compliance-related topics.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Keep management informed of the status of compliance activities
  • Monitor and enforce compliance through regular audits
  • Collaborate with other departments to address compliance issues
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the compliance program.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into the compliance framework.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) is a plus.
  • 5 – 7 years proven experience in compliance
  • Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
