We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities
Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant information.
  • Analyze and evaluate costs related to materials, labor, and equipment.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and kept within the approved budget.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances.

Tendering Process:

  • Assist in the tendering process by preparing tender documents, analyzing bids, and making recommendations to the client.
  • Participate in negotiations with contractors and suppliers.

Contract Administration:

  • Administer contracts, including the preparation of contract documents, variations, and claims.
  • Monitor compliance with contract terms and conditions.

Quantity Takeoff:

  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications to estimate the amount of materials required for a project.
  • Calculate quantities for variations and valuations.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks related to costs and contracts.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and advise project stakeholders accordingly.

Value Engineering:

  • Work collaboratively with project teams to find cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or functionality.
  • Evaluate alternative materials and methods.

Cost Reporting:

  • Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for the project.
  • Present financial information to project teams and stakeholders.

Dispute Resolution:

  • Assist in the resolution of disputes related to costs and contracts.
  • Provide expert advice in the event of claims or disagreements.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Qualifications
Educational Background:

  • Typically requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Professional Certification:

  • Many Quantity Surveyors pursue professional accreditation from relevant bodies, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or other local equivalents.

Experience:

  • Relevant work experience in quantity surveying or a related field.

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate cost estimations and analyses.

Communication Skills:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.

Attention to Detail:

  • Precise attention to detail in quantity takeoffs, cost calculations, and contract administration.

Negotiation Skills:

  • Ability to negotiate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and other parties involved in the project.

IT Skills:

  • Proficiency in relevant software for cost estimation, project management, and quantity surveying.
