Saro Oil Palm Limited is a subsidiary of Saroafrica International Limited (‘Saro’) an indigenous private sector player with 3 decades of experience in Nigeria. Saro Oil Palm Limited plans to gradually develop an integrated oil palm plantations of up to 22,000 ha with complimentary industrial units of mills and refinery over the next few years. Job Title: Irrigation Supervisor

Job Summary
- This role is intended for Saro Oil Palm Limited, Urhonigbe Forest Reserve, Orhionmwon LGA, Edo State.
- The Irrigation Supervisor will assist the Nursery Manager in implementing the irrigation system and procedures and ensure that all pre-nursery and nursery seeds and plantlets are constantly supplied with the appropriate quantity (and quality) of water. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the achievement of nursery targets within the agreed budget.
- Organize and supervise nurseries workforce to improve outturn and workers productivity.
- Assist with the installation and management of nurseries irrigation systems.
- Monitor the irrigation system of pre-and main nurseries daily.
- In coordination with the Stores Manager, keep a minimum stock of spare parts (both for pipes and pumps) to ensure a zero downtime for the irrigation system.
- Monitor at all times availability of fuel/power for the water pumps.
- Monitor at all times the presence of the operators for the irrigation system.
Requirements
Education:
- Minimum of a Second-Class Upper B.Agric (Hons) Degree in Agronomy or Bio-engineering or equivalent subject.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a similar role and environment.
- Knowledge and experience of agricultural operations, imperatively in the plantation sector, in Africa.
- Management / supervisory skills and experience of managing agricultural teams an advantage.
- English language essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in cross cultural environment.
- Good IT skills.
- Knowledge of local languages an advantage.
- Age Requirement: 28 - 35 years.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Field experience in a palm oil nursery is a strong advantage.
- Good technical knowledge, preferably with plumbing networks, including pumps and piping.
- Good common sense and hands-on approach.
