The Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA) is a stakeholder in the effective and efficient dispute resolution of commercial disputes both in Nigeria and internationally. As a key component of the dispute resolution industry, LCA seeks to provide automation and easy access to service users in Nigeria.

The Lagos Court of Arbitration is seeking an External Relations Officer to support the development and implementation of LCA's marketing and brand management strategies.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: External Relations and Policy Advocacy

Location:

Scope of Work
  • The External Relations Officer assist in the development and release of marketing communications.
In addition:
  • Assist in the execution of marketing and public relations initiatives. Assist the Senior External Relations Officer in planning for ADR forums, seminars and conferences and document detailed reports on these events.
  • Develop articles and speeches to be delivered at seminars and conferences.
  • In conjunction with the Senior External Relations Officer, develop and maintain working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including chambers of commerce, arbitration's associations and institutions, multinationals etc.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the policy advocacy and research arm of the department, to gather information on current trends and activities in the arbitration industry and reflect this in LCA's marketing initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Senior External Relations Officer to maximize opportunities for influencing policy advocacy through effective public relations, marketing and other related activities
  • Ensure high quality flow of information from the External Relations unit to the rest of the organisation (e.g. information and updates on arbitrators with the dispute management department )and to external parties as appropriate.
  • Liaise with various functions across the organisation to ensure availability of necessary resources and materials for planned events/programmes.
  • Oversee the production of all graphic and print materials to ensure quality and consistency with brand image and projection.
  • Facilitate the development of approved marketing communications - leaflets, brochures, billboards, print and broadcast media adverts, e.t.c.
  • Liaise with and monitor the activities of approved advertising agencies, along defined communication targets and expectations, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
  • Manage the membership database and ensure up-to-date records are kept for all members.
  • Prepare/compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Senior External Relations Officer.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Senior External Relations Officer or Head, External Relations and Policy Advocacy.
Qualifications
  • First degree in any discipline, preferably Business Administration.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in business environment.
  • ADR experience preferred.
Skills and Competency Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the arbitration industry.
  • Awareness and appreciation of LCA's operations and strategic objectives.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of brand management.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret issues and present them in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to write concise, accurate, logical, and clear reports and documents.
  • Proven experience of managing own workload, given competing priorities.
  • Exceptional organisation and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
Key Performance Indicator:
  • Accuracy of membership database
  • Accuracy, quality and timeliness of information and reports
  • Success of external communications, public relations and marketing initiatives e.g. seminar, conferences etc.
  • Quality of LCA adverts and marketing materials
