We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mining Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Responsibilities
Project Planning and Feasibility:

  • Conduct geological assessments and surveys to determine the feasibility of mining in a specific location.
  • Collaborate with geologists to analyze mineral deposits and create detailed project plans.
  • Evaluate the economic viability and potential risks associated with the mining project.

Design and Engineering:

  • Develop detailed mine designs, considering factors such as ore body geometry, rock mechanics, and environmental impact.
  • Design mining methods and plans, including drilling, blasting, excavation, and transportation.
  • Specify equipment and technology required for efficient mining operations.

Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Work with regulatory authorities to obtain the necessary permits for mining activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international mining regulations and environmental standards.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day mining operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Optimize extraction processes to maximize resource recovery and minimize waste.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain the desired mineral composition.

Safety and Environmental Management:

  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect the well-being of workers and prevent accidents.
  • Implement environmental management plans to minimize the impact of mining activities on the surrounding ecosystem.
  • Monitor and manage the disposal of waste materials responsibly.

Geotechnical and Rock Mechanics:

  • Conduct geotechnical assessments to understand the stability of excavation walls and ground support requirements.
  • Analyze rock mechanics to optimize drilling and blasting techniques, ensuring safe and efficient extraction.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect and analyze data related to production, equipment performance, and geological conditions.
  • Generate regular reports on mining progress, production rates, and efficiency metrics for management and stakeholders.

Technology Integration:

  • Incorporate advanced technologies such as automation and data analytics to enhance mining processes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to improve operational efficiency.

Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage budgets for the mining project.
  • Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial goals are met.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address concerns and build positive relationships.
  • Implement corporate social responsibility initiatives to contribute to the well-being of the surrounding communities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall project performance.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a First Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Must have 10 years experience in a similar
  • 2 years experience in a leadership role
  • Certification would be an added advantage
