Responsibilities

• As a hotel Accountant, my role and responsibilities typically revolve around managing financial transactions, records, and reporting within an organization. Here are some key duties:
• Financial Recordkeeping: Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. This includes recording all financial transactions such as sales, purchases, expenses, and payments in the organization's accounting system or software.
• Bookkeeping: Perform bookkeeping tasks, including reconciling bank statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring proper documentation of financial transactions. Maintain inventory records and tracking fixed assets.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis. These reports provide insights into the financial health of the organization and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop and monitor the organization's budget. Analyze financial data, identifying trends, and preparing forecasts to support effective budget planning and resource allocation.
• Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws. This includes preparing and submitting tax returns, maintaining proper documentation for audits, and staying updated on relevant regulations and changes in accounting standards.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis, helping them make informed decisions and drive financial performance.
• Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and prevent fraud or errors. This includes implementing financial policies, conducting regular audits, and ensuring adherence to accounting principles and standards.
• Financial Planning and Strategy: Contribute to financial planning and strategy discussions by providing financial insights and analysis. work closely with management to assess the financial impact of business decisions and help achieve organizational goals.
• Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to gather financial information, provide guidance on financial matters, and support decision-making processes. Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Professional Development: Stay updated with accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends through continuous learning and professional development. Participate in relevant training programs, conferences, or certifications to enhance my knowledge and skills.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Professional accounting designation (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hotel and hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with hotel-specific financial systems and software is an asset.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues at all levels.
