Job Title: Senior Coordinator, Engineering (Front End & Approvals)

Job Objective/ Purpose of Job

  • Lead departmental efforts in scoping and executing Front End Engineering studies as a first step in new projects and modifications to existing facilities.
  • Typical projects include gas compression, treating and conditioning, water Injection facilities, offshore wellhead platforms design and construction, offshore/onshore pipelines engineering and construction and modifications to a number of existing production and wellhead platforms, together with all associated pipelines.
  • Ensure there is a clear technical basis and associated operational data for all engineering activities to be carried out by Facilities Engineering through interfacing with other Company departments/functions.
  • Liaise with other CLIENT’S departments to develop FDP’s and other miscellaneous field development concepts.
  • Assist Facilities department by putting together technical justifications and documentation for all required permits and licenses, as well as monitoring and expediting progress of such requirements, in close working relationship with other Company departments (PSC, NCD, DPR, Contracts, etc)
  • Develop and document technical justifications for all key design decisions and changes that affect/impact on Company’s operations.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Functionally Reports To: Facilities Central Engineering Manager
  • Administratively Reports To: Facilities Central Engineering Manager

Supervises:

  • Directly supervises two process engineers for Front End Studies and approvals issues and also indirectly supervises departmental Process, Instruments & Control, Electrical, Rotating Equipment, Piping and Structural Engineering activities as may be directed by the Engineering Manager.

Working Relationships:

  • Internal Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, Asset Management, Reservoir Engineers, Geo Scientists and Operations, External Affairs (for permit and licensing issues). Also, a strong interface with APS Facilities Engineering.
  • External Design Consultants, DPR.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  • Scope and execute Front-End Engineering and Conceptual Design studies as required.
  • Work with other CLIENT’S departments to develop FDP’s and other miscellaneous field development concepts.
  • Ensure Technical Justification documentation is routinely prepared in readiness for Technical Change Panel review meetings to be chaired by the Engineering Manager.
  • Co-ordinate update of Project Design and Engineering procedures in consultation with the QA/QC section.
  • Supervise the performance of Consultants providing Design and Engineering services for the Project.
  • Lead and participate in Technical reviews and Safety and Operability studies as they relate to Front-End work.
  • Prepare technical justifications and documentation for all required permits and licenses, in close liaison with other Company departments (PSC, NCD, Contracts etc).
  • Track and expedite progress of all pending permit and license applications.
  • Initiate and manage Engineering contracts for Front-End engineering, soil investigation, pipeline route surveys, front-end studies, etc.
  • Prepare budgets for all front-end activities and raise corresponding Approval –For- Expenditure Requests (AFE’s) and monitor the same.
  • Provide monthly and weekly progress reports, including areas of concern, key activities / milestones, progress versus plan and activities look ahead for ongoing Engineering activities.

  • Zero LTI’s
  • On time and budget delivery of all required design packages.
  • Timely submission of all necessary permit and license applications.

Financial Dimensions:

  • Manage the delivery of Front End Engineering/Detail Engineering projects ranging from $US 50k up to $US 2,500k in value.

Job Specifications

  • Education Qualification: Minimum of a University 2nd Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Chemical/Process Engineering Discipline.
  • Professional Qualification: Full member of an Internationally recognised professional engineering institute.
  • Experience Minimum of 18 years in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry, with at least 8 years in a similar position. Operating company and Nigerian / West African experience preferred.
  • Age 37+
