Hobark International Limited (HIL) is the parent company of the Hobark group operating in the oil and gas industry. The company was incorporated in 1998, starting as a staffing agency based in Port Harcourt. Currently we have offices in 4 countries with our head office in Lagos.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Coordinator - Planning

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Contract
Department/Division/ Unit: Facilities / Project Services

Job Objective/ Purpose of Job

  • Provide Planning, Scheduling and Reporting services for a wide range of upstream oil and gas projects for offshore and onshore projects within Nigeria undertaken by the Facilities department.
  • In view of the maturity of the fields, projects typically include upgrades and expansion of existing facilities to accommodate infield drilling and secondary recovery (primarily water injection).
  • Projects are typically in the $US 10 – 100 million range with an annual portfolio of some $US 150 – 250 million.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Functionally Reports To: Manager, Project Services
  • Administratively Reports To: Manager, Project Services
  • Supervises: Planners (x 3)

Working Relationships:

  • Internal Head Project Services, Planners, Lead Cost Engineer, Project Manager / Engineers

Job Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Establish and maintain Project Planning and Reporting procedures.
  • Provide input to the establishment and maintenance of a work breakdown structures (WBS’s), including AFE and cost centre numbers, to control and report costs at agreed levels.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate Project control plans and schedules, including charts, S-Curves, resourcing plans and 90 day lookaheads.
  • Monitor actual versus planned progress, highlight / resolve areas of concern and produce recovery plans, forecasts and re-baselines as required.
  • Analyse and propose improvements to schedules, including use of critical path analysis and resource loading.
  • Produce weekly and monthly Project Progress reports.
  • Produce other ad-hoc reports and presentations that may be required by the Project.
  • Review & audit contractors’ planning procedures & reports.
  • Supervise three Planners.
  • Responsible for development and mentoring of at least one National engineer.

Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals

  • Maintain up to date Project Control documents, including charts and progress S-curves, with progress figures updated on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Issue Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports by the agreed deadlines.

Financial Dimensions:

  • No direct responsibility but indirectly annual Facilities budget can be in the order of $US 100 – 500 million.

Job Specifications

  • Education Qualification: University Degree in an Engineering discipline, although lower qualifications can be accepted where experience levels are demonstrably high and appropriate to job requirements
  • Professional Qualification: Full membership of a relevant International Institution preferred
  • Experience Minimum of 15 years in similar positions in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry.
  • Experience of Cost Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous Operator and Nigerian or West African experience preferred
  • Age 40+

  • Functional/ Technical: Broad, multi-discipline knowledge and experience of planning and scheduling of offshore on onshore Oil and Gas projects.
  • Proficient in Primavera
  • Proficient in MSProject/Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Access
  • Excellent presentational skills.
  • Managerial: Excellent communicator and team player
  • Behavioural: Highly organised, interactive and methodical.
  • Comfortable working within a multi-discipline, multi-cultural team environment

Primary Skills:

  • Broad, multi-discipline knowledge and experience of planning and scheduling of offshore on onshore Oil and Gas projects.

Work Cycle (Hours/ Days):

  • Monday - Saturday 0730 – 1630 hrs, with additional hours as operationally required
  • Rotation 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off
  • Shift n/a
