Job Title: Rig Operations Supervisor
Location: Nigeria

Department/Division/Unit: Drilling
Job Objective / Purpose
- On-site supervision of activities with focus on safety, work preparations, maintenance, spares, processes and operations of the rig.
Reporting Relationships:
- Functional: Senior (Day) Drilling Supervisor
- Administrative: Drilling Superintendent
- Supervises: All drilling personnel on the rig (both Company and Contractors)
Working Relationships:
- Internal: Petroleum Engineering, Production and General Engineering Departments, HSE, QA/QC, Logistics.
- External: Contractors, Service companies,
Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Tasks:
- Be familiar with all major rig equipment, personnel and operations.
- Advise on HSSE matters regarding the rig and its supply chain, and enforce compliance with Company’s policies and procedures.
- Highlight critical and sub-critical potential failures and inefficiencies with regard to the rig equipment and upcoming operations.
- Ensure rig operations run smoothly, assuring there is full and proper maintenance of equipment, the availability of spares and that personnel have the competency and experience to perform their work.
- Critique and advise on the implementation of the Drilling Programme in the respect of the efficient utilization of the rig – provide feedback to the Drilling Superintendent.
- Maintain an overview of the drilling operation with regard to progress, personnel, logistics and planning. Identify potential bottlenecks, in a timely manner, and implement mitigation measures.
- Assess the capabilities of the drilling and service contractors, including the assessment of individual personnel, on an ongoing basis and advise on areas for improvement.
- Promote commitment, and involvement amongst all contractors
- Provide on-site QA / QC of equipment and engineering planning work.
- Assist with coaching / mentoring Company’s Drilling Engineers and NDSVs, sharing expertise and knowledge freely.
Accountable For:
- Full implementation of HSSE practices in operation.
- Efficient running of rig.
- Full implementation of PMS on the rig.
- Availability of spares, critical and non-critical for uninterrupted operation of rig.
- Prevention of rig downtime resulting from incompetent personnel, poor maintenance or lack of spares.
Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals:
- Zero LTI
- Minimal downtime on rig and 3rd party equipment.
- High personnel competency.
- Low NPT on the rig, less than 10%.

Job Requirements
Education Qualifications:
- High School Education (minimum). Possession of a degree is an advantage.
Professional Qualifications:
- Held a senior rig position (e.g. Toolpusher) with a drilling contractor, or service company, and attended industry courses in rig operations.
- Additional experience as a Drilling Supervisor would be advantageous.
- Experience: 15 - 20 years (min)
- Age: 40 years (minimum)
Primary Skills:
- Good technical knowledge of rig operations.
Key Competencies Requirements:
- Functional/ Technical
- Good technical knowledge of rig operations. Initiative to proffer solutions to problems. Sound knowledge of IADC/API guidelines for well operations.
Managerial:
- Able to supervise subordinates and lead teams to achieve results.
- Behavioural: Good interpersonal skills, communications and organizational skills are essential.

- Roatation: 28 days on/28 days off or as applicable.
