Job Description

• As a Swimming Trainer, you will be responsible for instructing individuals (MOSTLY CHILDREN) or groups in various swimming techniques and water safety skills.
• You will work with swimmers of young ages who are mostly beginners or a bit skilled. Your primary goal is to help swimmers improve their swimming abilities, stroke techniques, endurance, and overall water safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct swimming lessons tailored to the needs and skill levels of individuals or groups. Teach proper swimming techniques including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
• Demonstrate swimming strokes and techniques, provide feedback, and offer corrective instructions to help swimmers improve their form and efficiency in the water.
• Emphasize the importance of water safety practices and educate swimmers on drowning prevention, rescue techniques, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure swimming equipment and facilities are clean, well-maintained, and safe for use. Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Enforce pool rules and safety regulations to maintain a safe and orderly swimming environment. Supervise swimmers during practice sessions to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Communicate with swimmers, parents, and guardians as deemed fit and address any concerns or questions.

Qualifications / Requirements / Experience

• Previous experience as a swimming instructor, coach, or competitive swimmer is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and water safety principles. Familiarity with training methods and exercise physiology is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with swimmers, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to work with individuals of varying ages, abilities, and learning styles. Patience, empathy, and encouragement are essential qualities for helping swimmers overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
• Any certificationin lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid. Additional certifications such as Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Certified Swim Coach (CSC) will be of advantage.
• Applicants must be resident in Ibadan.
