A Petroleum Development company located in Lagos state is recruiting qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

General

  • Effective support of the financial activities of the business and the implementation of good practice and financial discipline.
  • Support the CFO on the development and implementation of a finance strategy that is properly aligned with and supports strategic goals and objectives.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of C. all necessary systems, controls, policies, and procedures to ensure a rigorous financial framework.
  • Manage the framework for delegation of authority over financial resources in line with the Board approved Manual of Authority. 
  • Establish an organisation-wide risk management framework and risk review process.
  • Identify risks and financial implications for the Company's projects/ initiatives and advise the CFO accordingly.
  • Support the CFO to undertake an annual evaluation of internal controls and business risk assessment for the Board and Audit Committee and make improvement recommendations as required.
  • Support the Audit Committee with assurance on the Company's internal controls
  • Support and maintain a finance organisation that is responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Provide periodic reports on the activities and performance of the Finance function.
  • Perform any other duties that may be. assigned by the CFO

Financial Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Ensure analysis and articulation of the Company's financial performance in line with relevant international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Leverage the company business model for generating value and translate the operational metrics into key performance indicators to ensure strategic focus on the value drivers of the business.
  • Provide support to Board decision-making by providing timely and properly analysed business information.
  • Work with the CFO to manage all statutory reporting obligations on an accurate and timely basis including production of annual reports and accounts, half-year reports, and Interim Management Statements (IMS), shareholder presentations and all banking obligations liaising as appropriate with Board members and external advisers and company auditors.

Budgeting and Planning:

  • Ensure robust planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across the organisation.
  • Co-ordinate the financial planning process to Sk support the organisation's growth and expansion plans. Assess and fully understand the financial requirements and tax implications of these plans and communicate these clearly to the Board. Review the business case for any major investment decisions taking into consideration the Company's strategy. Proactively manage and monitor cash-flows, ensure optimal cash management and implement best practice treasury management practices.
  • Ensure optimal capital expenditure and working capital management and ensure the organisation has sufficient liquidity to meet its medium-term requirements and banking obligations.
  • Ensure the availability of adequate financial resources to fund investments and expansion proposals.
  • Articulate and implement procedures and controls to ensure that the organization's funding requirements are proactively anticipated and met at a reasonable cost. Actively support the company's debt and equity-raising activities.
  • Recommend and implement hedging options E to manage foreign exchange and commodity risks.
  • Coordinate tax planning to optimize the company's tax position and ensure full tax compliance.
  • Ensure effective tax risk management measures.
  • Coordinate the articulation of the overall company strategy in terms of debt and flows optimisation and the company policy on transfer pricing including appropriate guidelines.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of the financial resources of the Organisation including achieving cost efficiency in line with business objectives.
  • Design and implement mechanisms to safeguard the company's liquid and fixed assets.
  • Ensure the improvement of existing treasury policies, procedures, and processes to further safeguard the Company's assets.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Very good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Excellent understanding of macro-economic indices and their impact on the business.
  • Knowledge of world-class finance function operations and best practices in process improvement and internal controls.
  • Advanced finance and accounting knowledge, including experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experience in corporate finance including listings, mergers and acquisitions transactions; capital project analysis; strategic financial planning and analysis.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically and appreciate the systematic Impact of complex issues and solutions.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to manage multi- national and cross-cultural teams effectively.
  • Strong communication, Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in any relevant discipline.
  • Professional accounting/ finance certification, (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA).
  • Minimum of twenty (15) years of relevant experience of which at least seven (5) must have been at a senior or management level.
