Job Title: Chief Financial Manager - Energy Sector

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Position Overview

• As the Chief Financial Manager in the energy sector, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial strategies, planning, and operations of our organization.
• The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in structured finance within the energy industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of financial management, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with strategic priorities.

• Structured Finance:

  • Utilize extensive experience in structured finance to optimize financial structures and support complex transactions within the energy sector.
  • Evaluate and recommend financing options for projects, considering both short-term and long-term financial implications.

• Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Provide in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making, risk management, and strategic planning.

• Risk Management:

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with energy projects.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to proactively address potential financial risks.

• Cash Flow Management:

  • Optimize cash flow by managing working capital efficiently, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure liquidity needs are met.
  • Implement effective treasury management practices.

• Financial Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, reporting standards, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory issues and maintain a strong control environment.

• Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior management and the board of directors, supporting key decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive financial performance and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, CPA, CFA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer or similar executive role in the energy sector with a focus on structured finance.
• In-depth knowledge of energy industry financial practices, regulations, and market trends.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in the energy sector is a MUST.
