Job Title: Technical General Manager - Construction

Location: Anambra

Job Purpose

  • The General Manager interfaces all technical aspect of the business and oversee management of design, construction, logistics procurement and budgets to ensure the efficiency of time, quality and cost of assigned projects. He will be required to plan and coordinate all technical aspects of the construction process

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for project planning, execution, and coordination of day-to-day work activities
  • Responsible for technical issues regarding all company projects
  • Ensuring deliverable are completed within cost baseline
  • Ensuring all required statutory and regulatory conditions are met
  • Ensuring proactive management of foreseeable project risk, mitigating as necessary
  • Managing changes to the project without unduly affecting the stated objectives and benefits
  • Supervise the construction/project managers to monitor construction progress, including worker productivity and compliance with construction and safety codes.
  • On time valuation of contractor’s work for payment purposes according to approved payment plan.
  • Oversee the preparation of BEME (Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation)
  • Meeting with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress
  • Ensure Quality control and specification monitoring,
  • Coordination of overall human and material resources on site
  • Identifying stakeholders on projects and ensures they are satisfied
  • Liaising with contractors and sub-contractors
  • Managing multiple contractors within and outside host communities.
  • Dealing with contract disputes and mitigating the impact of any issues
  • Work with executive management and other stakeholders to ensure all projects are completed before schedule, of excellent quality and within the budget.
  • Help create, implementation of systems and processes to guarantee cost and timeline efficiencies & reporting practices etc.
  • Coordinate and manage Architects, Designers, Consultants, Technical Teams, Contractors, Vendors, & Supervisors etc
  • Ensure a strong reporting system as per requirements of Executive management and track the same.
  • Ensuring the required Health, Safety & Environmental standards are adhered to onsite towards achieving zero accident.
  • Lead regular project review meetings with senior management and stakeholders.
    Inventory & Logistics Operations.
  • Examine risks and potentials for business opportunities.
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Work with Executive Management Team to continually grow and sustain profitability
  • Perform any other duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the Executive Management Team

Education, Experience & Skills
Education / Qualification:

  • B.Eng in Civil Engineering and an Additional Master in Project Management or equivalent will be preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 20 years cumulative experience, 8 of which must have been in a Senior Management role ( Preferably in Nigeria )
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Must have experience of working in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
  • Manpower management

  • Financial / commercial management exposure
  • Must possess strategic perspective and strong analytical skills.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
  • Review and amend operational procedures
  • Knowledge of codes and standards as well as safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the business needs.
