Ritman University is the 58th Private University, approved by the Federal Government to begin academic activities on February 25 2015 and Licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to begin operations as a Private University on March 5th 2015.

Qualification and Requirements
- A good Bachelor's Degree, not lower than Second Class Honours in Photography or Photjournalism from a recognized institution, with not less than 3 (Three) years post qualification experience.
- Must be able to set up a dark room/photographic workshop, carry out printing enlargement and framing of photographs; has good functional knowledge of all processes of photographic productions, including sound colour, slides and motion picture processing; OR
- A practicing photographer versed with all the above practical requirements with at least 7 (Seven) years of practicing as a professional photographer.
- In addition photojournalist must be able write news stories about the photographs taken including enduring captions
