Job Title: Team Lead - Sales

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Reports to: Head of Corporate Sales
Sector: Insurance
Job Grade Level: Deputy Manager - Manager (Depending on experience and capacity)

Job Objectives

  • As the Team Lead - Sales, you will play a critical role in driving sales growth and achieving revenue targets for the insurance products and services.
  • Leading a team of sales professionals, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring the attainment of ambitious sales goals.
  • With a focus on customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction, you will lead by example, inspiring and empowering your team to deliver exceptional results and uphold the company's reputation for excellence.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and drive business growth.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for sales expansion and differentiation.
  • Establish sales objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics to measure progress and track sales team effectiveness.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, support, and motivation to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement training and development initiatives to enhance sales capabilities.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and strategic partners to drive sales opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify customer needs, address inquiries and concerns, and provide personalized insurance solutions tailored to individual requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriters, product managers, and customer service teams, to deliver seamless customer experiences and exceed expectations.

Sales Operations and Reporting:

  • Oversee sales operations, including pipeline management, forecasting, and territory planning, to optimize sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data and trends, and prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management review.
  • Implement sales enablement tools and technologies to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and support sales team effectiveness.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate sales-related risks and issues, proactively addressing potential challenges and ensuring adherence to ethical standards and best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 4 - 5 years of experience in sales leadership roles within the insurance industry, with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, sales processes, and industry dynamics, with experience across various insurance lines (e.g., life, health, property, casualty).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and drive results.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of developing and executing effective sales strategies to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Proficiency in sales management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high degree of resilience, adaptability, and drive for excellence.
