We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Laboratory Research Technician I
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Job type: Contract
Duration: 1-year renewable contract
Duties
- Assist in tissue culture laboratory, screen house and field research activities related to plantain breeding.
- Assist with performing tissue culture and microscopy operations, data collection and processing.
- Ensure sterile environment practices, orderliness of lab, screen house and work environment.
- Assist in maintaining of stock and inventory for germplasm and laboratory items.
- Participate in research data collection, entry and processing.
- Assist in supervising casuals in daily assigned tasks.
- Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- National Diploma in Agriculture or any other related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.
Competencies
The ideal candidate must:
- Have excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
- Attention to detail combined with good self-motivation and self-organizational skills.
- Have a positive attitude and strong team spirit.
- Have experience working with banana tissue culture techniques.
- Have ability to work with digital devices for data collection and reporting.
