Kwara State University, Malete was established on 24th December, 2008. The certificate and instruments to operate the University were obtained on 9th February 2009 from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja. Thus, the Kwara State University became the 34th State University and the 95th University in Nigeria to be registered by the NUC. The Kwara State University has existed for over a decade as an enviable citadel of learning and research.

The University, aside its passion for community development, has consistently maintained and towed the line of its: Vision:"to be foremost in expanding the frontiers of knowledge and be most innovative in disseminating knowledge towards advancing the cause of humanity" And; Mission: to be the fulcrum of a knowledge-driven society, building human competences and fostering determination and competition among people through the instrumentality of modem technology.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Vice Chancellor

Location: Malete, Kwara

Description

  • The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, announces to the academic community that the post of Vice Chancellor of the University is vacant. In line with the provisions of the Kwara State University Law 2008, section 3 (3), the Council invites applications from suitably qualified candidates with experience in university administration for the post of Vice-Chancellor.

About the Position

  • The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive and the Academic Officer of the University superintending over the daily affairs of the University.
  • He/She shall be the Chairman of Senate, Congregation, and shall be responsible to the Council for the day-to-day management of the human, material and financial resources of the University.

Requirements
The ideal candidate for the post of the Vice Chancellor, KWASU, must:

  • Be a Professor of not less than 5 years and with appreciable relevant university work experience;
  • Be a distinguished academic, top-notch researcher of national and international repute with a proven track record of scholarship in terms of significant publication output in recognized peer-reviewed journals;
  • Not be more than 64 years of age at the time of application;
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and training for a twenty-first-century university administration;
  • Be capable of driving technological innovation in teaching, learning, and research;
  • Demonstrate the ability to attract funds to the University and strengthen linkages with other institutions, nationally and internationally;
  • Be an astute and prudent manager of resources;
  • Have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University in its pursuit of academic excellence recognized globally;
  • Be a person of strong character, courage and capable of inspiring staff and students in the advancement of knowledge and learning;
  • Be fair and just without discrimination along the line of religion, ethnicity, gender or political leaning.
  • Be of sound health and pleasant disposition.
  • Be of high integrity, strong moral character, and must not have been convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction or indicted by an administrative panel.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and team-building skills and the ability to attract and retain highly skilled and talented staff.
  • Be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
  • Be a person of entrepreneurial and innovative predisposition, with a proven track record relevant to the vision and mission of a world-class university.
  • Demonstrate evidence of current and continuing advancement of knowledge and practice.

Condition of Service

  • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only, while salary and allowances shall be as obtainable in other public universities in Nigeria, or as may be determined by the Council from time to time.
